Unblog

I'm off for 4 days of family togetherness in Boston, and I'm not taking my iBook on this trip. I'll be able to send and receive email, but I won't be posting until my return Thursday night.

My wish for all of you is a happy and healthy 2003. May the New Year bring you challenges to growth and many occasions for joy.

Wonderful Face

I had a long dinner with AF. Intense conversation, ranging across a wide variety of subjects. I had a good time, and I think he did too.

And all the while I sat across the table with part of me thinking: but he's so beautiful. His face is elegant and expressive. His head is a marvelous shape. (I feel like a crude creature by comparison.)

Looking at people in aesthetic terms is not something I'm particularly proud of (although I come by it honestly, in the sense that it was more or less my family's stock in trade), and I certainly hope it's never my primary measure. But AF's face catches and holds my eye, and looking at him is, simply, a pleasure. It would be interesting to know if this is particular to me, or whether other people find him as visually captivating as I do.

My impulse was to write an email tonight, thanking him for the evening. I think I'll wait, though. For now.
